Cat-olog Database - Cats Adoptable to Seniors and Cancer Patients

Adopting Your Forever Senior Cat

Seniors 50 and older adopting cats must be physically, mentally and financially able to care for their kitty. People experiencing a disability or cancer who are able to care for their cat or has someone else who will help with their cat, are eligible for the program.

If you would like to keep a cat overnight prior to adoption to be sure that it is a good match for you and the cat contact Marlene at (512) 981-7241 to set up the visit.

When adopting a cat only a $60. cash donation is accepted and a receipt is given.

Many assisted living facilities allow cats because their emotional connection is greatly beneficial and cats are small and usually not destructive. Mature cats have many years of affection to share. Life expectancy for an indoor cat is 10-16 years or more. If you become unable to take care of your cat, you or a family member may return the cat. The cat will be placed with another loving senior or cancer patient through our cat-alog.

If you are a good candidate for a senior cat, we can come to your home with the cat you choose from pictures and descriptions or met personally. Being a senior cat parent can bring entertainment, companionship, love, and purpose to your life. Cats are the perfect social choice because they don’t require bathing or walking ( although some kitty’s enjoy walking on a leash or in a small animal stroller in the hallways of a senior residence and into the common areas to visit with other seniors who aren’t able to have a kitty of their own). Cats adapt to your living quarters no matter what its size. Cats don’t need a lot of space-just a small patch of space to sleep and their favorite human to hold and pet him with love in their touch. Personal kitty needs consist of food, water, two bowls, litter box with litter and scooper, a couple of toys, scratching post, cat carrier and you.

If a potential adopter is a renter, we must have proof that the adopter is allowed to have a pet in the home before we can leave it with you. This can be provided by a phone call to or from the landlord, a copy of a pet deposit, or a copy of a lease that clearly states the acceptance of cats.

Our senior cat rescue adopts out cats intended for indoor living only and does not allow adopters to declaw the cats due to the pain. Putting nail caps on the cat’s nails is acceptable. Note: many cats have been previously declawed.
